In the last 500 years, the natural rates of extinction have increased drastically as a result of human interventions. Many species inhabiting this planet are already extinct or in the brink of extinction and the numbers rise day by day. Most of us are unaware of this fact, which affects us though, directly even if we do not realize it. The results of our actions are literally underneath our feet.
