Inspired by the ancient masonry work characterised by overlapping and staggered stone blocks. It becomes majestic in the Renaissance facades of Italian palaces and churches. Examples are the Palazzo Rucellai in Florence, the Palazzo dei Diamanti in Ferrara and the Church del Gesù Nuovo in Naples.
